Tragic accident at student halls

Posted by Matthew Heap in

Over the last two weeks, two tragic accidents have occurred at two student halls of residence. One in Bournemouth ending in a fatality and one in Sheffield resulting in life altering injuries. Both isolated incidents involve falling from a window.

Emergency services were called to Lyme Regis House next to Bournemouth University's business centre, responding to reports that a man had fallen from a 10th floor window. Many residents were unaware of the tragedy until the morning when police continued to conduct their investigations. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services the 20-year-old student was unfortunately reported dead at the scene.

The second incident in Sheffield happened just the day before, an 18-year-old University of Sheffield student was found in the early hours of Saturday morning after a fall of 40 feet. Debora Green, head of Student Support and Well-Being at The University of Sheffield, said: "The student remains in hospital and her condition continues to cause concern".
