Loughborough Uni students have it good

Posted by Tom Walker in

According to a survey by Lloyds Bank, students at Loughborough University have the best quality of student life. The survey, which has been running for 2 years, sources existing data from recent surveys and research to determine ranking, factoring in the likes of course satisfaction, accommodation costs, crime, sports facilities and employability of graduates to build a profile of each university.

Loughborough University, which came runner-up to Durham University in 2013, boasted high levels of student satisfaction across a number of categories in 2014, including social life, graduate employability and sports facilities. In terms of employability, 94% of the midland-based university find employment following graduation, earning a median salary of £22,000 per annum. However, the university fell down in the accommodation category - unsurprising given that it has some of the most expensive student housing in the country.

Nitesh Patel, economist at Lloyds Bank, commented that "Loughborough has raced to the top of the Lloyds Bank Quality of Student Life Survey. The University scored consistently high scores across most indicators. Loughborough students are happy with the quality of their course, which provides them with excellent employment prospects, while also benefitting from a strong social life. This has helped them clinch the top spot as students of Loughborough enjoy the best quality of life amongst UK universities for 2014."

Runners-up to Loughborough included Cambridge (6th) and Oxford (8th), Bath (2nd), Durham (3rd) and Exeter (10th).
