Loughborough University is having a good year - after having recently been named Whatuni's University of the Year, a poll of 20,000 students has also revealed it to have the best accommodation of any university in the UK.

The results come from an online survey of 130 universities, which included other categories such as City Life, Courses and Lecturers, and Student Unions - which Loughborough also won. The university also made it into the top three in the categories of Student Support, Uni Facilities, Clubs & Societies and Job Prospects.

Professor Robert Allison, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, said that the university's success "is a proud moment" for students and staff, and a "fantastic achievement" that "reflects the commitment and hard work of staff and students."

He added: "We are delighted that our students took time to vote and to know that they rate the Loughborough student experience so highly. The award is an opportunity for all members of the university community to celebrate and for me to thank everyone for their contribution to our success."

Harper Adams, an agricultural college in Shropshire, and Bangor University in Wales also scored highly in the accommodation category.
