Work is currently underway on a new £8 million student housing development in Exeter Cricket Club. Midas Construction is developing halls of residence for 159 students, as well as a two-storey pavilion complete with changing rooms, kitchens, bar and office space.
Alan Hope, chief executive of Midas said: "This is an exciting new development, which will not only offer more modern accommodation for those studying at the nearby University of Exeter but also a brand new cricket pavilion protecting the future of Exeter Cricket Club.
"One of our first jobs on site was to erect a temporary cabin for those using the current pavilion so as not to disrupt the cricket season."
Grant Millar, Operations Manager at Midas, also commented that: "Midas Construction has been highlighted by the Considerate Construction Scheme as an industry leader when it comes to supporting staff, engaging with communities and protecting the environment. We are looking forward to meeting and working with the local community in Exeter to create a positive legacy for the city and all those who live, work and study here."
The development is being built on behalf of developers Yelverton Properties and their development and funding partners, Campus Development Management Ltd and Curlew Capital. Midas is due to work on the site until June 2016, but the new pavilion should be completed by this December.
