Proposals for a new 300 student development in Chester">ManChester will be considered by council bosses next week. The development, led by the Peel Group, is designed to fill a 3,000 sq-ft plot of land in the King William Street Enterprise Park and will be aimed at undergaduate and postgraduate students. Rumour has it that it will also be targeting lower price brackets than other blocks in the area.
Whilst the plot is currently a car park, it occupies some prime land right next to the University of Salford's School of Arts and Media. Approximately 1,500 courses are taught in the buildings surrounding the area, yet there is virtually no student accomodation nearby.
The 300 rooms would be shared across two towers, each containing a mixture of flat types. If the scheme gets the go ahead the number of purpose-built student bedspaces in Salford would hit the 4,000 mark. It would also join the recent £81m student village development set to open within the next few weeks for the 2015-2016 intake.
