A planning application for a new 1,200 bed Halls of Residence has been submitted by the University of Northampton. The application comes as the university prepares to move to a new campus known as Waterside in September 2018.
The new halls would be a rather diverse affair, with the 1,200 students it would house spread across five-story flats and four-story townhouses, all set among landscaped courtyards. The development would also have new educational facilities (for research and teaching), alongside other more residential facilities including a health centre, convenience store and a bank.
The move to Waerside Campus means that the university will be closer to the centre of Northampton than ever, and this new Halls looks like it will allow students a good balance of traidtional-campus, and city centre living.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Nick Petford said, "We are committed to offering students an excellent experience at the University of Northampton and this includes providing a selection of high quality student residences."
