The Redevelopment of UWE's Frenchay Campus Continues

In January work is scheduled to start on a new £23 million development Wallscourt Park.

The 550-bed block is set to be delivered by Easter 2017 and will continue the transformation of the campus in Bristol. The rooms themselves will be spread over a mixture of studios and apartments, as well as some in townhouses and will supplement the 396 rooms built last year, just south of the campus.

Just three months ago UWE opened a new Students' Union building (costing almost £10 million) and construction of the new block will run alongside the construction of a new Faculty of Business and Law centre (costing around £50 million).

The project aims not only to expand student accommodation on campus, but deliver it in as cost effective a manner as possible, with rent levels undercutting that of current campus accommodation. It is anticipated that the rooms will mainly serve first year students.

Management firm Capita will oversee the project and Interserve Construction will head up delivery.
