More Belfast student accommodation in the 2016 pipeline

Posted by Ross Jones-Morris in ,

Work is set to begin on a new 407-bed Belfast student accommodation development in early 2016, by the same developers behind 123 York Street, York Street (No 1) Ltd, situated close to the new Ulster University city-centre development.

This project is now understood to be supplemented by development plans for nearby buildings 48-52 York Street, with the intentions of creating a nine-storey residence for 200 students.

Construction company Lagan Construction indicate that work is due to take around 18 months, meaning it is vital the development begins by 2016 to ensure it is ready for the October 2017 new student intake.

These schemes join a raft of others across Belfast, in response to Ulster University's decision to move into Belfast city centre.

The Ulster University website states that "The Belfast campus is continuing to expand and develop as part of one of Northern Ireland's largest-ever urban developments. In just a few years we will have 15,000 students and staff based in the city centre."
