Student Portfolio Up for Sale

Planners in Cardiff have now given their approval for a 26-storey student development in the city.
The site of the development (on the corner of Charles Street and Bridge Street) is currently home to 71 and 71a Bridge Street, but should construction go ahead these buildings (which the proposal says are 'not historically significant') would be demolished.
The 26 storeys of the building will contain 463 beds spread across 121 studios and 72 en-suite cluster flats. The development will also house commercial units on the ground floor and a roof garden on the top.
Despite passing the approval process Cathays councillor Elizabeth Clark has called the scheme 'excessively tall', saying "this proposal is completely out of scale to the nearby buildings and the design jars with the historic area".
