Analysts at Knight Frank are predicting that 2016 will be a big year for student accommodation in central Scotland and the UK as a whole. They also predict that the hotel industry will see similarly high investment.
Their research specifically covers 'specialist property', a sector that includes student accommodation and hotels very prominently, and they predict that the sector will receive £14.3 billion in investment over the course of the next year. This is a 10% rise from levels seen in 2015.
Drilling down they are predicting huge amounts of investment in Scotland specifically. With several high profile student developments already underway in Edinburgh and Glasgow, a partner at Knight Frank, John Rae, has called the Glasgow market 'absolutely buoyant'. He went on to say 'although supply is picking up, we predict investment levels will continue to grow in 2016'.
