Royal Bank of Scotland has put £11.4m in funds towards a 170-bed student accommodation scheme in Bath, which is being developed by James House.

The newly developed property will sit between Bath Spa University and the University of Bath and will be located in close proximity to Bath Spa railway station.

The accommodation will consist of a mix of multi-bed town houses as well as self-contained studios with a total of 169 beds. The property will also come equipped with communal facilities such as a gym, common rooms and a recreational area.

Construction is due to be completed in September 2016 at which point it will be acquired by Empiric Student Property in a deal worth £25m.

John Lowndes, director of James House, said "we are delighted to bring our James Street West development to fruition later this year and meet the demands this vibrant city is experiencing, which hosts a number of international students year on year, attracting a population of over 20,000 full-time students."
