Arts University Bournemouth is planning to construct a block of student flats in the town centre car park.
The proposal for the six-storey block will include rooms for 240 students and follows on from four other developments on an opposite plot.
According to planning consultant Ken Parke, the site is in a highly sustainable location and the plot has already been found to be suitable for student accommodation.
Under current plans there are no requirements to provide any parking provisions, which is being put down to a design choice. Moreover, students are discouraged by the institution from using cars and the policy approach is that student accommodation in the form of halls of residence should not provide any car parking for its residents.
It's expected that despite there being residential properties in the immediate vicinity, the development will not impact residential amenities.
