The go-ahead has been granted for a new development that will include new student accommodation as well as restaurants and retail units for the University of Lincoln.

The council has approved the scheme, which will provide hundreds more students accommodation situated between the High Street and Brayford Wharf East. A plus for those that will eventually be living in the flats is that it will be just yards away from the main Brayford campus.

The development, which will consist of nine storeys, will also come equipped with a gym and shop units linking the university with the new pedestrianised middle High Street shopping area.

The two blocks that will be linked with an overhead footbridge, will be built parallel to the existing railway and will be able to house a total of 300 students once completed.

The application has been developed in collaboration with the University of Lincoln and their Sarah Swift building, which is currently under construction. It's understood that this will ensure a synergy between the two schemes.
