A proposal has been put forward to develop a £45m student housing block at Swansea's SA1 waterfront regeneration project. The plans put forward by NMJ Property Developments, include a 507-bed student accommodation block located between Technium 1 and the Ethos building on King's Road.
Facilities will also include a large communal lounge, a cafe, gym, faith room, laundry and reception area and 24 hours on site management. There will also be outside spaces including a landscaped area, as well as bike racks to promote walking and cycling.
The proposed development has been put forward to planners at Swansea Council and if approved construction is expected to begin in November 2016 with an estimated delivery date of summer 2018.
If given the go-ahead the building will serve both the city's universities and therefore supports Swansea's aim to become a twin university city.
According to Nick James, managing director of NMJ Property Development, the scheme has the potential to provide some of the best student addresses in Wales and are expected to be highly sought-after, particularly due to its proximity to both universities.
The developers are also planning to use as many local sub-contractors and suppliers as possible to complete the project if it's given the green light.
