CEO of ARLA Calls on Letting Agents to Reduce Costs as Fee Ban Approaches

A proposed 300-bed student accommodation development in Salford has been approved. The £25m student campus will consist of two towers and will be located next to the University of Salford's Allerton Building and Salford Crescent station.
In total there will be 271 apartments, including 11 penthouses and will be houses within two eight storey blocks that will be named X1 The Campus.
Construction is expected to start at the end of the year with students set to move in by August 2018. Including within the plans are a gym, cinema room, study area, laundry facilities, cycle storage and a roof terrace. There will also be an outside space consisting of a landscaped courtyard and there are plans to provide enough parking for up to 260 vehicles.
The site is currently occupied by the old Anders Glass Suppliers warehouse, which will be demolished as part of the proposal.
Concerns had been raised by local residents worried about the potential for anti-social behaviour due to the increase in number of students, whilst others suggested that there was already enough student accommodation nearby.
According to local planning policy the development will be subject to section 106 payments, which will be put towards the community and to mitigate the impact of the builds.
X1 Lettings will let and manage the accommodation once its complete.
