A site that was once a former primary school in Aberdeen has been developed into a brand new £23m student accommodation scheme.

The Old Causewayend School had been left vacant for years but has now been transformed into student housing by Unite Students.

The building had been empty since 2008 and in the past was subject to vandals as well as arsonists. Work on the building started back in March 2015 after Aberdeen City Council said that the building was surplus to requirements.

Causeway View will have a total of 55 rooms plus a further 344 beds situated in the newly built part of the site which will give the plot a distinct U-shape.

Local councillor Michael Hutchinson was pleased with the development, particularly the fact that the granite was maintained and restored as part of the plans, as well as the way the architecture was sympathetically designed.
