The second phase of converting a former warehouse near Preston's university into dedicated student accommodation has been submitted.

Lime Oak Properties is turning the industrial units, located off Fylde Road, into student flats dubbed 'The Forum'.

Planning permission was granted to transform the first floor into student flats and now the company is looking to convert a second section of the warehouses into more student bed spaces.

The site is situated close to the main university campus in Preston.

Plans developed by Scales Architecture indicate the ground floor of the warehouse will have more student flats, as well as room for a communal gym, covered cycle storage and a staircase linking the existing student accommodation.

The completed first phase of the development has 44 rooms in total, with stage two consisting of a further 15 self-contained flats.

According to a statement from the architects behind the plans, demand for student accommodation is continuing to outstrip supply at UCLan, particularly in light of the university's £200m campus masterplan, which will see Preston change dramatically over the next ten years.
