Global Student Accommodation (GSA) is looking to build a team who will help to deliver its £300 million construction programme across the UK.

GSA is planning to build accommodation for over 3,000 students in Birmingham, Cambridge, Portsmouth and Plymouth by the end of 2019.

It's understood Kenny Oke has been hired as head of construction and will oversee the procurement and delivery of GSA's UK development sites. Mr Oke has previous experience at Threesixty Developments and has delivered more than 4,000 student beds across the UK.

Christian Davis has been appointed to head up acquisitions and will be responsible for reaching GSA's UK target of 20,000 student beds in the next five years.

In September 2016, the company purchased a portfolio of 3,634 beds from The Student Housing Company and also bought a construction pipeline of 3,213 beds across six cities. The gross value of the development pipeline stands at more than £300m.

GSA's chief executive for EMEA, Time Mitchell, said: "The UK maintains its reputation for having some of the best academic institutions globally. There will continue to be high demand for well-maintained purpose-built student accommodation from both home and international students, managed in conjunction with our emerging global portfolio."

The company expects to meet a significant proportion of the expected demand with the development of 20,000 student beds in selected locations across the UK.
