Plans have been submitted for the construction of a nine-storey student accommodation block located on Coventry's ring road.

The tower, which would be able to accommodate 206 students, is planned to replace offices in Manor Road.

The existing building was previously used a grand family house before being converted to offices, but will be demolished under the plans.

The proposed student accommodation will consist of 32 flats and 2 studios and will also come equipped with dedicated laundry facilities and a gym.

Students will be banned from bringing cars and parents dropping them off at the beginning of term will be given time slots to make sure there is room for them to park and unload.

The planning application was submitted to Coventry City Council in December by developers Vibe Student Living. If given the go ahead the development will be the latest in a series of student accommodation blocks being built in the city.

Student accommodation already under construction in the city centre includes the site of the former Royal Mail sorting office in Bishop street, opposite the Transport Museum in Hales Street, and at Belgrade Plaza.
