A four-storey block of student accommodation in Bath is on schedule to be built in time for the next academic year.

McLaren Property is in the process of building 32 studio flats situated off Lower Bristol Road, which will be located next door to the 330-bed halls of residence named Twerton Mill.

Construction of the student housing is due for completion in July ready for students to move in for the new academic term in September.

Commenting on the development, Stuart Black said: "McLaren Property is delighted to be moving forwards with the development of Weirside Court, which will provide more student accommodation and relieve pressure on family homes in the city.

"McLaren won an award for our Twerton Mill scheme, which is next door, and it's great to be delivering another quality building on the Lower Bristol Road, as well as continuing with our investment in Bath."

Weirside Court will be situated between existing flats at River Place and Twerton Mill and just behind the St John Ambulance training centre.

Planning officers backed the scheme suggesting it was a favourable use of space give its location between two existing residential developments, rather than the industrial use favoured on the Newbridge riverside.

The scheme was given the go-ahead in June 2016 and will consist of studio en-suites, equipped with double beds and study areas.
