Aberystwyth University has chosen Willmott Dixon to build its £27m Innovation & Enterprise Campus development.

Willmott Dixon will work with the university on the pre-construction phase of the development, to build a technical design for the new campus.

The project marks the second campus scheme awarded to Willmott Dixon in two weeks. Earlier this month it was awarded the contract for Kingston University's Town House building.

Aberystwyth University's Innovation & Enterprise Campus (AIEC) is located on the Gogerddan Campus and is designed to provide an environment to encourage business and academic collaboration. The campus will include a Bio-refining Centre, a Future Food Centre, Analytical Science laboratories and a Seed Processing and Biobank Facility.

A full planning application for the site has now been submitted with a decision due before summer 2017. If all goes to plan, construction work is scheduled to start in mid-2017 and is expected to be completed within two years.

Managing director for Willmott Dixon, Neal Stephens, said of the project: "We will work with the design team, using our experience and capabilities, to provide the best solutions for the Innovation & Enterprise Campus and help the university have world-class facilities to attract businesses, academic staff and students to drive growth in the economy."
