Plans have been submitted with Aberdeen City Council for the development of 500 student flats.

Situated on land to the west of Robert Gordon University in Garthdee, the project is being described as a major development.

A publication consultation of the plans will be held later this month, providing stakeholders with an opportunity to raise any concerns that may have regarding the development.

Previously the Garthdee community had expressed concerns over the number of houses of multiple occupation in the area and its hoped the new purpose-built accommodation will ease the pressure on local housing stocks.

Commenting on the application and the proposed consultation, Paul O'Connor, chairman of Inchgarth Community Centre said: "I would urge the community to come along, see the plans, ask questions and put their opinions forward.

"People might see issues what we don't notice".

Mr O'Connor also suggested that any plans should include considerable investment in the community through consultation with local groups and he will therefore be seeking contributions for the local area.
