A 100-bed student housing development in Loughborough is on track to be delivered in time for September this year.

Once complete the brand-new student accommodation will come equipped with a cinema, gym and landscaped courtyard.

According to developers, Alpha Homes, the environmental impact of the site has been high on the agenda.

A spokesperson for Alpha Homes said of the buildings construction: "In keeping with the university's focus on sustainability, The Foundry 2 is being built using integrated panelling, cladding and conduits that are manufactured off-site.

"This is a low carbon and environmentally-friendly construction method that also vastly speeds up the build."

The scheme will also have its own off-road parking, designed to limit any potential impact on residents.

Situated in Loughborough's Woodgate, the £1.1m Foundry 2 development will sit opposite its sister student property, The Foundry.

Students living in the sister site will also have access to the new development, enabling them to take advantage of its facilities.

The two purpose-built student developments will be run by the same industry specialists - Mezzino.
