Bellstan Properties Ltd have submitted an application to Portsmouth City Council to change Venture Tower in Fratton Road, into student accommodation.

The 99-bed scheme will also come equipped with a games room, gymnasium, student communal spaces and a landscaped roof terrace.

The eight-storey former office block is currently unoccupied and is located within walking distance to many of the city's colleges.

Documents submitted as part of the planning application, suggest the proposed development would make an important and positive contribution to Fratton Centre.

The majority of the student beds will consist of studio units, with a number of twin studios, double bedrooms and cluster flats also being provided.

A decision is expected on the application later this year.
