Work has begun on building luxury student accommodation in Glasgow, which will feature 310 cluster bedrooms and apartments.
The development is being delivered by Downing Students, and will mark its second development in Glasgow's city centre.
Construction work is being undertaken by main contractor George Downing Construction Ltd, with the £30 million scheme due to open in time for the 2018 academic year.
Situated just five minutes from the University of Glasgow and 15 minutes away by train to the University of Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian University, the development was granted permission in December 2015 after several revisions were made.
Initial proposals had been for a 352-bed development of between 9 and 11 storeys, however plans were scaled back after pre-application discussions with the council.
To mark its second site in the city, Downing Students has launched a competition for the public to choose the name of the new building and suggested inspiration can be taken from the accommodation's surrounding attractions.
Commenting on the development, Ann Lodge, joint chief executive at Downing, said: "We're thrilled to have started work on our second student development in Glasgow. The new development is located close to our West Village scheme, which is currently the most popular student accommodation in the city. It's also situated nearby to the universities and some of the area's most popular attractions."
Downing Students already owns and operators more than 5,000 student beds across nine cities, including London, Cambridge, Edinburgh and Newcastle.
