YPG Developments has received permission to enlarge its student accommodation scheme located in Devon Street.

A scheme of 162 beds was approved last December, but developers YPG went back to the drawing board, citing viability concerns with the original plans.

Smith Young Architects were instructed to revise the student accommodation to provide self-contained studios rather than cluster accommodation as per the initial application.

The new planning application calls for the construction of an eight to ten storey building containing 218 student studios and two commercial business units on the ground floor.

Documents submitted as part of the application highlighted the proximity of the site to the city's universities, suggesting it's a perfect location for those wishing to be close to their place of study.
