Southampton Solent University is to open a new multi-million-pound campus for cadets in St Mary's in Southampton.

Due to open next week, the campus will be home to sea officer cadets along with first certification teaching provision students who have been relocated from Warsash.

The campus will come equipped with a number of brand new engineering workshops as well as electrical and control laboratories for officer cadets.

Those attending the campus will be accommodated at the university's David Moxon and Emily Davies halls of residence.

The two halls will become solely for the cadets' use with new single study bedrooms.

Commenting on campus, vice chancellor Professor Graham Baldwin, said: "This relocation will enhance an already outstanding student experience, offer value for money and sustainability, and maximize industry engagement and prospects."

The new campus forms part of a £6 million investment by the university to move teaching from the site in Warsash to Southampton by September 2019.
