Brand new student accommodation in Plymouth might be as much as a year behind schedule due to the fallout from the Grenfell Tower disaster.

Plymouth's £16 million Crescent Point development was due to welcome students from September 2017. However, construction work on the 14-storey building is still underway and now Mears Student Life says tenants may not move in until September 2018.

Pickstock Construction, which is the firm working on the site, has been hampered by unavoidable delays.

Reports suggest some of these delays are associated with problems affecting the construction sector since the Grenfell Tower disaster. In particular, Crescent point appears to have been delayed due to a general slowdown in the construction sector, with deliveries of materials impacted.
