Plans to build 138 luxury student flats on the site of a former school in the centre of Lincoln have been granted approval.

Members voted 10-1 in favour of the plans at a meeting held by the City of Lincoln Council on September 13.

Under the proposals, the former St Martins Parish Hall building on the site off Mint Lane will be demolished to make way for the 138-bed student development.

The site is also home to a former school building and warehouse previously used by RW Stokes before the company moved to its new HQ at The Lawn.

Applicants Thomas Samuel Ltd will now redesign and renovate most of the original buildings and construct two new buildings.

The scheme will be managed by IconInc, the student accommodation brand of The Parklane Group.
