A landmark building in York city centre is currently on sale with a guide price of £12 million.

Ryedale House is situated in Piccadilly within the city's walls and is being marketed by Savills with the intention of creating a new block of apartments.

The eight-storey building, located on the banks of the Foss, is said to have "spectacular views of York Minster" and comes with planning permission to develop the former office building into more than 70 new apartments.

In addition to permitted development rights, vendors are in the process of securing an enhanced planning permission which would allow the addition of duplex apartments to the roof.

Commenting on the site, Matthew Jones, of Savills Leeds, said: "Ryedale House's redevelopment is central to achieving City of York Council's regeneration vision and not only does it benefit from prior approval for 77 apartments under office to residential conversion, it also offers significant redevelopment potential to student accommodation or hotel use."
