Plans for new student accommodation in Brighton have been submitted for approval with the city council.

The project is being led by Tekton Student, which has identified a site to the north east of the University of Brighton's Falmer Campus for the new student development.

Known as Falmer Cottages, the plans call for the construction of 90 units, divided into 70 cluster beds, 19 studios and one accessible studio. The four-storey building will also feature a lounge area equipped with TVs and vending machines.

The scheme is being designed by Fletcher-Rae and co-founder of the company Andrew Rae, said: "Falmer Cottages presents an opportunity to increase student housing in a prime location, tailored for those studying at the university grounds in the small village."

"The contemporary residences are nestled in close proximity to Falmer Campus and the Community Stadium, plus, the rail line and the A27 highway are nearby, providing easy access to major transit routes."
