Planning permission is being sought for a new block of student flats in Nottingham, on a site that had previously been earmarked for the headquarters of a security firm.

The application was lodged by PSG SSAT Trustees and supersedes plans for an office development on the site.

The previously application from Magpie Security included plans to extend the use of the land as a car park, which was to help fund the planning application for the new building.

However, plans have now been lodged for a new student accommodation development, equipped with a games room, cafe and cinema.

The new block of student accommodation, split over three floors, will be able to accommodate up to 67 students.

Planning documents submitted as part of the application suggested the project would enhance an under-utilised part of the city and it will make an important contribution to the vibrancy and commercial success of the area.

A decision is due on the scheme before the end of January 2018.
