Aberdeen City Council has applied for a building warrant to demolish the premises at Glover House on Balgownie Road.

The council currently own the premises, which was previously home of Thomas Blake Glover, the industrialist instrumental in the development of Japan as an industrial nation.

Last year plans were put forward to develop the site into a business centre, equipped with conference and meeting rooms, as well as student accommodation.

The plan would see the city council, the University of Aberdeen and investment firm Aberdeen Asset Management working together to transform the building. It would then be used to offer an international educational exchange programme.

A decision on the outbuilding warrant could be issues before the end of the year.
