Overall satisfaction at the University of Portsmouth sat at 88% in 2017 according to the annual National Student Survey (NSS). This compares to a similar figure in 2016 of 89%.

The NSS Survey gathers final year students' opinions on the quality of their courses, with the goal of the survey being to "contribute to public accountability, help inform the choices of prospective students and provide data that assists institutions in enhancing the student experience".

The result puts the university higher than the national average for an eleventh successive year, and it has been cited that more than 3,600 University of Portsmouth students took part in the survey this year. In addition to this, 19 courses achieved an impressive 100% satisfaction rate, including Accounting Business, Drama and Performance, Film Studios, Geography and Journalism.

The University of Portsmouth dates back to 1908 and is now home to over 22,000 students in the 2015/16 academic year according to HESA data.
