McLaren Property have submitted plans to Coventry City Council for a new 382 bed development near the University of Warwick campus.

The proposed development would be built on Westwood Way - a 20 minute drive from the main campus of the university and currently home to a disused office block. The developers are also quick to point out that, whilst close to campus, the site is also far from any residential areas. A real bonus in a city in which many student accommodation developers have run afoul of residential opposition.

To help students get around the development will have on-site bicycle storage and easy access to local bus services.

Bruce Ruddle, Development Director at McLaren, said of the proposals: "We are pleased to have submitted our planning application for a new student accommodation scheme on the site of 1 The Oaks to the city council."

"The site has been vacant for several years and given its sustainable, discreet location and distance from the neighbouring residential areas, we believe that it is ideally suited for a high quality, professionally managed student living scheme."
