Vice-Chancellor, Professor Elizabeth Treasure and Aberystwyth University were celebrating yesterday upon the official reopening of Hugh Owen Library on Penglais Campus, with the university highlighting "Our aim is to provide our students with outstanding facilities for learning and teaching".

The development marks a major upgrade in the facilities available to students living in Aberystwyth including new group study rooms and spaces, power and wifi sources and refreshment and stationary facilities. The upgrades go beyond addressing new amenities however, as the plans took the opportunity to install more efficient lighting, heating and ventilation systems.

Aberystwyth University dates back to 1872, originally as The University College of Wales and is now home to close to 9,000 students according to the 2015/16 HESA data. Back in September, the university was awarded University of the Year for Teaching Quality in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
