Crosslane Student Developments has announced it has begun construction work on a new purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Coventry.

The 614-bed scheme is situated at the junction of Friars' Road and St Patrick's Road, within the Coventry Ring Road. The development consists of six different sized residential blocks with the largest consisting of 20 storeys.

Its location puts it near the city's most popular shopping areas including The Precinct, Smithford Way and Coventry Market, as well as tourist attractions such as Coventry Cathedral.

The development will contain a mix of high specification self-contained studios, two bed apartments, and premium en-suite cluster flats of between four to six bedrooms.

It will also come equipped with a common room, study hub, on-site gym, cinema, and private kitchen/dining facilities.

The developers hope the student accommodation will take less than two years to build and should be finished in time for the start of the 2019-20 academic year.
