DfE Confirms Tuition Fee Freeze
22nd Jan 2021
Plans have been submitted detailing a proposed block of student accommodation in Agard Street, Derby.
The latest development seeks to address concerns raised by local council planners and Historic England, with Simon Foote Architects redesigning the original plans.
The new building would consist of 173 studio apartments designed specifically for students, in what has become known as the city's University Quarter.
Agard Street is already home to a number of student developments. Earlier in the year, construction work started on a nine-storey block of student accommodation containing 244 beds. This sits next to the existing copper-clad University of Derby law department on the corner of Ford Street and Agard Street.
Commenting on the final plans, Simon Foote said: "The result is a signature development for Derby, one that raises the profile of the Agard Street gateway and brings about a much needed regeneration of the city centre."
It is hoped the scheme will be granted permission later in the year.
