Plymouth Marjon University is to launch its new site in Truro on May 4 2018, helping to provide access and opportunity for Cornwall's educational professionals to high quality postgraduate and undergraduate programmes and continuing professional development.
The new site will be located behind Truro Cathedral, providing university delivery programmes for working teachers, school and college leaders, teaching assistants and associated education professions.
The aim of the site is to establish a hub for educational professionals in Cornwall. It will be led by Professor Tanya Ovenden-Hope of Plymouth Marjon University's Faculty of Education, Enterprise and Culture.
Commenting on the development of the hub, Tanya said: "Our aim is to establish a hub for educational professionals in Cornwall. Marjon University in Cornwall will be a place where teachers, leaders and support staff can come together to develop evidence-based practice by engaging with high quality professional development and each other."
"Marjon has a long and very well-regarded reputation for supporting educational development in Cornwall, from its flexibly delivered MA in Education to supporting school led initial teacher training. We now have the opportunity to offer these programmes in county, starting with a postgraduate research."
The launch of the new Truro site comes just before the Cornwall Teacher Awards, which is to take place in Truro Cathedral.
