Plans have been submitted with Nottingham City Council to build student accommodation on Station Street as part of the wider development of the site.

Bildurn want to build the student accommodation along with new Grade A offices and residential accommodation.

The student element of the scheme will be delivered by Vita Group under its student brand and will consist of 323 bedrooms over 10 storeys.

The planning application follows on from demolition works, which began last year and will result in the removal of the old employment office.

Managing director at Bildurn Sean Akins said: "We're thrilled to be able to submit a comprehensive planning application to Nottingham City Council for Station Street. For many visitors to Nottingham, these buildings are the first that they see when they step out of the train station - and as our images show, our vision for the site is quite dramatically different to what has stood there for years previously."

"Our scheme will see Grade A offices and high quality residential accommodation reinvigorate the first approach to our city centre, regenerating a large chunk of currently disused and unattractive space in this prime location."

Building works are due to start this year, with Vita Group adding that the student residential element will be vital in kick starting the development, helping to boost the wider vibrancy of the area.
