Careers professionals at the University of Birmingham have already begun planning their next business partnerships in China after a joint graduate event attracted praise from employers, students and alumni.

The Universities of Birmingham, Nottingham and Warwick are now trying to work more closely with companies in China at the next event after 60 high-profile employers attended the Joint UK Universities Career Fair in Shanghai.

Close to 600 students attended the event with alumni having the opportunity to apply for jobs and engage with employers such as Bassettie, China Pacific Construction Group, Citi Group, UBS, Ericsson, HSBC, IBM, Mintel and Unilever amongst others.

Commenting on the event, Gloria Barber from Careers in Business at the University of Birmingham said: "All three partner universities are committed to creating employment opportunities for our students and our first joint careers fair was a great success."

"We are now committed to raising the bar at next year's event and looking to bring in more Chinese employers; putting them in touch with our students and creating connections that lead to excellent career opportunities that benefit both student and employer."

Those attending the event have reportedly already received job offers from employers attending the fair. The next career event is being planned for the spring of 2019.
