Work has started on a £24m student accommodation development in Station Street, Nottingham.

The project is due for completion in 2020, with Vita Group selecting Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure to deliver the scheme.

The main contractor is also building the only other Vita development in the Midlands, Vita Birmingham, which topped out in October.

The latest project has been designed by architect Fuse Studios and is split into three tiered towers of six, eight and ten storeys each. The 319 student apartments will benefit from excellent connectivity due to their proximity to the train station and students will have access to a coffee bar, study rooms and private lounges.

Commenting on the build, Richard Fielding, area director at Morgan Sindall Construction & Infrastructure, said: "We're incredibly pleased to be delivering Select's first scheme in Nottingham. They're a great customer and we've built a strong and collaborative relationship through our work on the framework, and our ongoing construction of Vita Birmingham."

"The student accommodation market in Nottingham is buoyant, driven by the continued growth of the two first-class universities the city boasts. Select has secured an excellent site next to the station and the apartments will undoubtedly prove a popular choice for bright and discerning academic minds."
