The Scottish entrepreneur, Charlie MacGregor, has suggested that Edinburgh is an ideal city for its hybrid business model offered by The Student Hotel (TSH).

The business offers high-end accommodation that can be rented by students or let out as hotel rooms, as well as flexible co-working facilities, meeting rooms and large-scale event space.

Chief executive MacGregor believes Edinburgh ticks many boxes, with its thriving start-up and business community, sizeable student population and demand from tourists.

The Student Hotel has already submitted a bid regarding a site, with TSH preferring larger locations to accommodate its various offerings.

The company already operates 12 sites in cities such as Barcelona, Paris, Florence and Rotterdam and employs around 550 staff.

The business now manages more than 4,400 rooms in five countries across Europe and will have nearly 11,000 rooms secured or under development by the end of the year.

Along with Edinburgh, the company is also eyeing up sites in Glasgow, London and Brighton.
