Plans have been released detailing a proposed 550-bed student accommodation development in south Bristol.

The developer is looking to construct seven blocks of flats at the Malago Road site.

The project will be split across seven different buildings and will also feature 49 affordable flats.

The student accommodation will consist of cluster flats of between four to 10 beds, with students also having access to 146 cycle spaces.

Developer A2Dominion has been working with Bristol City Council, as well as Bristol University to develop the scheme.

If planning permission is granted, the developer will start building on the site during the summer of this year, with the idea of having it complete by Autumn 2021. The plans are part of an extensive redevelopment scheme for Bedminster Green.

Commenting on the application, Jim Smith, development manager at A2Dominion, said: "These new homes on Malago Road will continue our relationship with Bristol City Council."

"As a residential property group we're working with Bristol City Council to create more affordable and student homes in the area."

"It will also support the city's education programme by providing the necessary high quality housing that all students need while they are studying."
