Bouygues Construction has won a £161m contract for financing, designing and constructing new student accommodation on the Brighton University campus.

Work will be jointly carried out by Linkcity (through its brand Uliving), as well as Bouygues UK and Bouygues Energies & Services, who are three subsidiaries of Bouygues Construction.

The scheme comprises five blocks which range from 8 to 18 storeys. The blocks will provide more than 800 student bedrooms along with fitness facilities and other amenities.

This scheme is part of a much larger overall project which aims to turn the campus into a more sustainable and innovative part of the university.

Works have begun on the scheme with a target finish date of September 2021. Students are scheduled to move into the accommodation in time for the beginning of the 2021-22 academic year.

The vice-chancellor of the University of Brighton, said: "We're proud to be investing in the future of our university, making Brighton a great place to live, work and study."

"Uliving has a track record of creating exceptional student accommodation schemes across the UK and we're delighted to be partnering with them to maintain Brighton's position as one of the best places to study in the UK."
