Unlike 30 years ago, students now have the opportunity to live in luxury self-contained studio apartments featuring an en-suite shower room, fitted kitchen, study area and wi-fi.

However, this accommodation is not cheap. Fresh Student Living is now advertising their cheapest Bronze Studios within a Chester complex for £160 per week for a 51-week tenancy, whilst their most expensive (Deluxe Studios) costs £185 per week.

The development consists of 77 beds and is due to be occupied from September.

A blurb on the website states: "With loads of space and stylish decor, Granary Studios is the ideal place to spend your uni years. Each studio comes with a comfy small double bed, your own mini-kitchen, loads of storage space and a great work area."

"All you need to choose is how much extra space you want! And remember, our studios are perfect for couples to share as we don't charge any additional fees, our prices are per studio."

"Studios are great to have your own space, but with exciting social spaces and a weekly social events schedule, you'll have all the opportunities to hang out with friends when you want to."

"With a TV lounge, games area and weekly events schedule, you'll never be bored. And when you need to get your head down there's also a study space too."

"We're in a fantastic location for the city and universities."
