A brand new student accommodation block has been given the go-ahead. The plot on Mansfield Road in Nottingham will surround the rose England pub which is a grade II listed building.

The plans involve student living space over the 4th to 10th floors consisting of cluster bedrooms and studios and communal living space that will include a gym.

The original plans for this block were described as a monolith but after some collaboration from the designers and city planners, it has been given the green light.

Locals have criticised the plans to build yet more student accommodation rightly stating "what happens if the student model fails? What will we do with all this space?" the city councils defend the plans saying that if the student model did fail the financial pressure would force the owner to adapt the space.
