The old Derry's department store in Plymouth is well on the way to being transformed into new accommodation for hundreds of students.

After more than two years, the shape of the new Plymouth Cross development is becoming clear.

Although sections of the site are still under construction, EHA Group is racing towards a December deadline.

Developers Thames Bank Property are confident that around 350 of the 500 beds will be ready in time for the academic year starting in September.

In addition to providing hundreds of additional beds, the site will come equipped with a gym, cinema and communal space.

The old department store has been closed since 2010 but was snapped up by Thames Bank Property in 2015 for an undisclosed sum.
