A £45m student accommodation development in Swansea is almost complete.

The 13-storey Oldway Centre is due to open in time for the academic year and will be home to more than 550 students.

The scheme was developed by Oldway Centre Swansea, part of the Midos Group, and is being managed by Omnia Space.

Council leader Rob Stewart said: "It's great to see such a significant project coming to fruition in such a prime location."

"Those living there will help our new city centre flourish, spending their money at local businesses and bringing new life and vitality."

"Other student accommodation is planned at other exciting city centre locations along with new homes for professionals, families and others."

Omnia Space is part of the Omnia Property Group, which is active across many areas of the property market including serviced offices, block management, commercial property and residential lettings.

Swansea is facing an influx of purpose-built student accommodation with thousands of additional bed spaces due to become operational in the next 2-3 years.
