Plans to build 79 student studios in Reading are likely to be rejected by Reading Borough Council.
Silver Street Developments is looking to build three purpose-built student accommodation buildings at 40-68 Silver Street.
The development already has planning permission for 56 studios just across the road from the proposed site.
According to Reading Borough Council planning officer Alison Amoah, the application should be denied planning permission for failing to provide an "acceptable design, for leading to a loss of amenity for neighbours and future tenants and for failing to provide for a mixed and balanced community."
Concerns have also been raised about the lack of parking proposed at the site, whilst locals are worried about anti-social behaviour and access to sunlight.
The development site was previously occupied by two buildings, but both have now been demolished.
The Planning Applications committee meeting is due to take place this week.
